Ramesh Karkee is a barrister and solicitor currently practicing in Toronto, Ontario. He has been involved in the Canadian legal services industry since 2015, providing services in real estate law, business law, and wills/power of attorney. Mr. Karkee was called to the Ontario Bar in 2019 as a barrister and solicitor and called to the Nepal Bar Council in 2000 as an advocate.
Mr. Karkee completed the Internationally Trained Lawyers Program from the University of Toronto in 2014 and the Certificate of Qualification from the National Committee on Accreditation of the Federation of Law Societies of Canada in 2015. He obtained a professional Master of Laws (LL.M.), specializing in Business and Corporate Law, from Osgoode Hall Law School, York University, Toronto, and a Master of Laws, specializing in Corporate and Commercial Law, from Tribhuvan University, Nepal, in 2002.
Mr. Karkee began his legal career in Canada as an intern in the Internationally Trained Lawyers program at Carranza LLP in North York, Ontario. He joined Paul Anthony Dineen at Chapnick and Associates as Mr. Dineen’s immigration law and corporate law assistant for five years. He gained substantial experience in refugee claims, real estate law, and corporate law at Chapnick and Associates.
In Nepal, Mr. Karkee began his career as a Human Rights Researcher at the Tribhuvan University Centre for Human Rights from 2002 to 2003. He gathered information on incidents of human rights violations, wrote contemporary articles, and collected expert articles toward publishing a human rights book.
In 2004, he joined Reliance Law Firm as an associate to senior advocate and professor Mr. Purna Man Shayka. Over five years he developed extensive court advocacy skills and became a well-known banking law expert in debt recovery. During his practice he also served as a banking law advisor to Rastriya Banijya Bank, SBI Bank of Nepal, and Nabil Bank Limited.

Rajani Tiwari is a barrister and solicitor currently practicing in Toronto, Ontario. Ms. Tiwari was called to the Law Society of Ontario and to the Nova Scotia Barristers’ Society in 2024. She has been engaged in the Canadian legal services industry since 2014, providing services in real estate law, wills/power of attorney, and family law. She was called to the Nepal Bar Council in 2000, ranking first among women in the nationwide bar examination.
Ms. Tiwari completed the Internationally Trained Lawyers Program from the University of Toronto in 2013. She completed Canadian Constitutional Law and Legal Research in the Common Law LL.M. program at Osgoode Hall Law School, York University, Toronto, in 2014, and the Certificate of Qualification from the Federation of Law Societies of Canada in 2015. She completed the Practice Readiness Educational Program (PREP) from the Center for Professional Legal Education in 2023. She holds a Master of Laws (LL.M.) in Corporate & Commercial Law (2002) and a Master of Arts (M.A.) in Sociology and Anthropology (2008) from Tribhuvan University, Nepal.
Ms. Tiwari began her legal career in Canada as an intern in the Internationally Trained Lawyers program at the Duty Counsel Office of the Ontario Court of Justice in 2013. She then joined Paul Anthony Dineen at Chapnick and Associates in 2014 as Mr. Dineen’s real estate assistant for five years, excelling in real estate transactions and building a professional network. She served as Law Office Manager at Karkee Law Firm, focusing on real estate law and wills and estates, until 2023. In mid‑2023 she articled at Pavel Boubnov’s Law Office in Halifax, Nova Scotia, with exposure to family law and criminal law.
In Nepal, Ms. Tiwari was a Human Rights Researcher at the Tribhuvan University Centre for Human Rights from 2002 to 2003. She documented human rights violations, wrote articles, and collected expert contributions for a human rights publication.
She worked as a lawyer at Maiti Nepal combating trafficking of women and girls, representing trafficking survivors in court on a pro bono basis.
From 2004 to 2006 she joined the Nepal Bar Association’s project on free legal aid, human rights, and access to justice. She gathered stakeholder input to amend the Legal Aid Act 1997 and its Regulation 1998, led data analysis, and prepared amendment drafts presented nationally and submitted to the Ministry of Law. She led national audio and poster campaigns on free legal aid and monitored the Central Legal Aid Committee and 66 District Legal Aid Committees.
From 2006 to 2008 she was Program Lawyer/Officer for Violence Against Women in Politics (South Asia Partnership International). She helped establish surveillance systems in Nepal, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh; drafted country case studies; analyzed legal gaps; and drafted a gender-sensitive code of conduct for political parties and election commissions and model legal provisions across those jurisdictions.
From November 2008 to April 2009 she coordinated the Violence against Women Campaign at the Women Rehabilitation Centre (WOREC), reviewing government policies and programs against the actual prevalence of violence against women in Nepal.
From April to October 2009 she was Legal Aid Project Director at the Nepal Bar Association, coordinating national projects, preparing fact sheets on disputes involving women (assault, domestic violence, divorce, property division), and organizing the National Women Lawyers’ Conference and Legal Aid Lawyers’ Conference.
